Reading is one of the most valuable skills children learn at school and at Westglade we are keen to provide children with not only the skills to allow them to become good readers but also to develop a real love of reading. Please read as often as you can with your child and encourage them to read independently.
We have introduced a Reading Challenge for Years 1-6 so please fill the chart in as your child completes a book and there will be a prize drawer at the end.
To inspire children's reading they need to be inspired by the books they are reading. Across the school children are reading and sharing exciting books to improve their vocabulary; in F2 they have been sharing James and the Giant Peach and George's Marvellous Medicine. As well as hearing your children read, it is just at important for them to hear you read. Whether it's on the bus or before bed, get reading!
