Autumn 1 - What is special to you?

The library service came to visit

Autumn 1

- Welcome to an exciting year in Butterflies!

To kick start our year our first term topic is 'What is special to you?' and gives us a chance to get to know lots about the children. We will be encouraging them to build friendships, talk confidently about what they like and to learn to make good behaviour choices.

We will be completing a 'Rainbow Challenge' weekly - this encourages children to access different areas of learning.

Each week we will focus on a different book and will link it into our weekly Big Write which happens in small groups every Friday.

In maths each week we have a focus number - starting at 0 - and we will think about what each number means.

-How is it made?

-What does it look like?

-How do we write the numeral?

Within this we will be learning to count forwards and backwards, add, subtract.

We will also have a weekly session dedicated to shapes and measurements!

Homework this half term:

Weekly letter formation and/or reading from Read Write Inc.

To create a family tree - this will be a great opportunity for your child to then talk and share things about themselves to a whole class or a small group.
