Important Autumn Dates for Y6:

Friday 21st September - Expressive Performing Arts transition session at Oakwood Academy

Friday 28th September - Street Aware run by Nottinghamshire Police with a focus on gang related crime and knife crime

Tuesday 3rd October - DARE Programme starts and will run until Christmas

This half term we are covering place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division then moving onto factors and multiples followed by fractions.

We are currently reading the book Wonder and some of our English will be linked to the book. First we are writing first person narratives in the style of Auggie Pullman about an extraordinary animal.

Learning Challenge

Our Learning Challenge topic is 'Could you bike the world?' where we will be exploring countries around the world as we follow a boy named Tom on his quest to cycle around the world. We will be designing and building folding chair prototypes in D&T as well as reading maps, tasting food and exploring art from across the globe.

Our science topic is Classification where we will be looking at scientific ways to classify plants and animals looking at their genetic make up and features of their habitat.

Below is a video we have used in class to introduce the children to the concept of long division. It breaks down the steps and makes it a little easier to understand. It is also fun to sing along to!
