Our Classroom

Welcome back to Butterflies - now we are wonderful Year 1s!

I am really looking forward to seeing all of the children and seeing how much they have grown in our time apart. I know Mrs Mitchell is excited to be working with them too.

If your child completed the scrapbook task as part of the summer eLearning work I would love them to bring it in with them, as well as the holiday workbooks that were delivered to your house :)

Each morning we will be doing phonics, English and Maths. Our afternoons will be linked to our topic and science work. On a Monday afternoon we will have PE, on a Friday afternoon we will have computing.

Our first topic is 'What memories will you treasure forever?' and we will be thinking about our favourite memories both of school and home - there will be lots of creative activities linked to this.

I will add more information to these pages over the summer - keep an eye out!

Things you need to bring each day:

reading book

reading diary

water bottle - labelled with name

coat - labelled with name

Timings for our class:

Arrive at 8.55 at Bakewell Drive entrance

Leave at 3.10 at Bakewell Drive entrance

Can you create a memory box/board/picture?

What memories are special to you? Either select objects, photographs etc to put into a box and bring these to school, write/draw about special memories, or create a model of a special memory - there is no right or wrong way to do this homework!

As well as linking to our History topic it will support the children in speaking and listening skills and in their relationships with peers after so long off :)

ALSO.... Please send in a photo of a special memory - you could email this to the school office for me to print out if that is easier! This will be used for our DT work.

At Westglade our curriculum is driven by our 'Learning Challenge' question. Each half term we have a new question that we explore.
