Foxes (Y6)

Welcome back!

Welcome to your class page Foxes. We are really glad to have you back and it feels great to have a full school again. On here you will important dates and information for the class so read it carefully and check it regularly.

Our topic this half term focuses on changes in Britain throughout the Stone Age, Iron Age and Bronze Age so any additional information you can find out would be great and we'd love to hear or see what you find out.

In science, we will be exploring Evolution and Inheritance. We will begin by looking how fossils can help us understand how plants and animals have changed over time. Then, we will move on to looking at inherited characteristics followed by closely looking at the way plants and animals have adapted and evolved over time.

Maths:

Our autumn term blocks are:

Place Value

Four Operations

Fractions

Start time:

8:35 through the nursery gate on Bowlwell Avenue (unless you have arranged to come to breakfast club at 8:00am).

Finish time:

2:50

PE:

PE will be on Monday afternoon with Miss Gell. You will need to come to school in your PE kit on Mondays as we will be not be changing in and out of uniform/PE kit.

Equipment:

You do not need to bring any equipment with you as we have provided it all. Due to health and safety, we are providing you with a plastic wallet with all your equipment inside.

Please bring a water bottle so you can have a drink throughout the day and a healthy snack for playtime if you would like one as we are not running tuck at the moment.

Homework:

We will be sending out homework, however due to minimising cross-contamination we will not be marking the work. We will still be checking if it has been completed by children and going through it as a class to address and problems they may have had with it. We really appreciate your support when encouraging children to complete homework as it is really good to get in the habit of completing it ready for secondary school.

Reading at home is still be monitored within classes and we expect to see you reading at least 5 times at home each week.

Thanks,

Miss Coupland
