Hedgehogs (Y2)

Welcome message

Our classroom

The Ugly Five by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler

Our first Learning Challenge question is 'Where would you rather live: England or Africa?'. This story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is set on the African plains and is about lots of different animals that you might meet. Enjoy

Hello Hedgehog's.

We are really looking forward to teaching you this year and have lots of exciting things for us to do. Mrs Newton will be teaching you on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and Mrs Baskill will be joining us on a Friday.

Start and finish times

Year 2 will be starting at 8.50 and finishing at 3.05. We will collect and dismiss you from the Bowlwell Avenue entrance to the school from the field. It is so important that you are on time to school and being collected as other classes will also be using that entrance at different times.

Our PE session will be on a Thursday afternoon with Miss Gell. On Thursday's, please come in to school in your PE kits (shorts/tracksuit bottoms, white t-shirt, school jumper and trainers).

Water bottles

Please make sure that you bring a water bottle in every day. It will go home each evening to be washed.

For Autumn 1 you will be receiving homework on a Friday and will need to be returned on the following Wednesday. Autumn 2 will be a creative project. You will also received spellings to practice at home.

Please continue to read at least 4 times a week at home and write it in your reading diary. We love reading at Westglade and will continue with our whole school class reading challenge this year.

Outdoor learning

We are so lucky to have such fabulous outdoor space at school. We will be making the most of it on a Friday afternoon when we will be doing Outdoor Learning. Keep an eye out on the weather forecast and bring in some wellies and a raincoat if the weather is looking a bit wet as we are not going to stop a bit of rain getting in the way of our fun.

Our class books

Everyday, we will have the opportunity to listen to a story. These are the books we are going to be enjoying in the Autumn term.

At Westglade our curriculum is driven by our 'Learning Challenge' question. Each half term we have a new question that we explore.
