Why not have a go at this KS1 Arithmetic test from 2018 and see how many different methods you can use to find the right answer! You could try:
- counting on or back from a number
- using a part-part-whole diagram
- column addition or subtraction
- halving or doubling
- using a number line (a ruler is a great number line you may have at home!)
- counting in multiples of a number (2s, 3s, 5s or 10s)
- drawing equal groups
- using arrays (e.g. 2 x 3 would be two rows of three dots)
- grouping for division
