Spelling

Monday

This week we are looking at homophones. What is a homophone? Click the link below for a quick recap if you are not sure.

Start the week  by using the document below to recap some commonly miss-spelt homophones. Think about the ones you mix up in your own writing and focus on practising those today.

Common homophones.

Tuesday

Below are the words we are focusing on this week. Today, I would like you to research the different meaning for the words and record them. Make sure you take care with the spellings of the words when you are writing them down.

draught draft
dissent descent
precede proceed
wary weary

Wednesday

Begin by using the 'look, cover, write, check' strategy to practise the words. Then, try to think of some clever ways of remembering the different spellings. You may be able to use the meanings of the words to help you come up with a way of remembering the spellings. For example:

Billy

Eats

Cakes

And

Uses

Six

Eggs

Thursday

Today, I'd like you to put the words into sentences, thinking carefully about making sure you have got the meaning right!

Friday

Ask someone at home to test you on these words (don't worry, we'll be doing this at school too).
