Wednesday 24th June
Today we will be learning how to use the suffix 'ly'. Have you used this suffix before? Remember that a suffix is a group of letters placed at the end or replaces part of the end of a word to change its meaning. e.g. superb - superbly.
Look at the words below and re-write them by adding the suffix 'ly'.
sad glad bad
Use the same rule for these other words below. What do you notice when you just add 'ly' to the end? Do they make sense?
happy accident automatic
Think about what you need to do in order to make them make sense. Research them if you need to. Some of the letters may need to be changed e.g.
angry - angrily.
Watch the video via the link below to learn more about how to use the suffix 'ly'.
Thursday 25th June
Look at the words in the box. Remember what we learned yesterday about the suffix 'ly'.
Change all the words by adding ly to them and define them. Remember, some words may need some letters changing rather than just adding the suffix.
Once you've done this, put your new words into sentences e.g. I clumsily slipped in the kitchen.
The root word for 'clumsily' was 'clumsy' and I had to change the ending by adding the letter i after the s and before ly.
