Writing
23 Degrees

Complete the activities below.
Monday
Whilst watching the video, write down all the similes and metaphors you hear.
Can you now create your own similes and metaphors about the story?
e.g. The professor says, 'It's raining cats and dogs.'
Metaphor: comparing two things by saying something is another thing. e.g. her hair was a pig-sty.
Simile: comparing two things using 'like' or 'as'. e.g. he was as valiant as a knight.
Tuesday
Write a setting description for the opening scene in the arctic. Use your senses to help you. What can you see, hear, feel, touch, smell?
Wednesday
Create a newspaper article for the missing person! Think about what details you may need to include (description of character, last location seen, emotive language etc.).
Thursday
Can you retell the story? You can use your work from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to help. You may want to do it from a perspective of a character or just retell the events. It's your choice! You can share your writing on the blog if you want us to see it!
Friday
Big Write!
Follow the link below to access Mrs Considine's writing lesson - she goes live at 9:45am. You will follow along with her, and then create your own write based on a video. You can then submit your posts and she picks some to share! You can also share what you write with us on Twitter or our class blogs. She posts the link on Twitter.
