Writing

Tuesday- read the story opening. Your task is to continue the story explaining what happens when the flying saucer lands. First, you must plan out the rest of the story using the planning sheets below to help you. If you can’t print don’t worry just use the layout as an idea for how to start your thinking.

Wednesday- start to write the rest of your story. Make sure you use similes and metaphors like you practised on Monday! Think about the vocabulary you will use, remember, the better the vocabulary, the more interesting it will be to read!

Thursday 

Go back and read through yesterday’s writing. How can you up- level your work? Consider checking or changing these things: 

  • capital letters and full stops 
  • search for tricky spellings using google or a dictionary 
  • include a simile (when we compare using like or as)
  • *CHALLENGE* use a metaphor (when we say one object IS another) e.g. the floor was a pool of hot, molten lava scorching my feet in the midday sun.
  • interesting vocabulary/ adjectives to describe
