King Midas

Still image for this video
Watch the video below and complete the activities for each day.

Story map the story of King Midas. What did he ask for? Map out his emotions next to the different sections of the story.

What wish would you ask for if you could ask for anything? Write a paragraph convincing Dionysus that he should grant you your wish.

Watch the Skittles advert below.

How does the King Midas story compare to the Skittles advert?

Create dialogue (speech) that could be used in the video. Think about HOW King Midas may have asked for things, and what he might say. Did King Midas have to convince Dionysus?

How will Dionysus respond to the request? What speech could be used after the video clip ends?

Speech punctuation:

King Midas argued desperately, "B..b..but, I need this!"

"B...b..but, I need this!" King Midas argued desperately.

Create a comic strip based on King Midas's journey. I would like you to split your comic strip into 6 sections. Your comic strip MUST include speech (punctuated correctly), and each picture must be accompanied by a minimum of 3 sentences.

Download the template below.

Write the story two weeks later. What is King Midas doing now? Does he regret his decision to turn everything he touches into gold? How is he eating? What is he feeling? Does he return to Dionysus?

Remember to include

- Speech (correctly punctuated)

- Fronted adverbials

- Subordinate clauses

- Relative clauses

- Parenthesis

We look forward to reading your incredible ideas!
