Writing

Monday 15th June

This week we are using the story 'The Enormous Turnip'

What does enormous mean? Can you find any enormous things around your house?

What is a turnip? Have you ever tried one? What do you think it will be like?

Listen/watch the story and then draw a picture of something that happens in it.

Tuesday 16th June

Have another look at our story if you would like.

Then can you write me a list of all the people and animals that help pull out the turnip?

Remember to write the next animal/person underneath!

Wednesday 17th June

Can you create a story map of what happens in the story? Then try and use it to retell the story.

Here is the one I started...

Thursday 18th June

Today I want you to try and find new words for enormous - how many can you think of? A grown up might be able to help you by using a thesaurus online.

Pick your favourite and use it in a sentence - I would love it if you could share it on the Purple Mash blog/twitter!

Friday 19th June

Today is big write day!

Can you use your story map to retell the story of the Enormous Turnip? Maybe instead of calling it the Enormous Turnip you could use one of the fancy words you found yesterday to describe the turnip?

Happy writing!

I would love to see photos of your work! Can you tweet them or add them to the Purple Mash blog?
