Good morning Hedgehogs! We hope you all had a fabulous Easter and didn't eat too much chocolate :). This half term our learning challenge question is 'What would you find in the woods?' I will be putting up work relating to stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel and even Snow White. What other story settings are in the woods? If you go for a walk with your adult and come across a wood, look carefully at the plants and animals that you may find in there.

Science

If you took your radishes home, keep a diary of how they are growing by drawing or writing what you can see. Don't forget to keep watering them.

As the sunshine is shining bright, why not keep a weather diary to check to daily weather patterns. You could write each day of the week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then draw the weather for that day as well as when the sun rises and sets. Does it change each day?

English

Use this picture to describe the setting or write your own story. Who lives in the house, where is it, what adjectives (describing words) could you use?

Try and challenge yourself by using questions and exclamation marks in your story. Tell your story to a family member.

Listen to our tricky words songs to help spell your common exception words:

Our class blog page is now all set up on Purple Mash. Once you have logged in, click on sharing, shared blogs, then Hedgehogs. See the picture below for support.

Here are a selection of activities you might want to try in the afternoons. These are linked to our learning challenge question 'How can we deliver the lighthouse keeper his lunch?'

Design and make your favourite sandwich
Make a bed for Hamish (the cat)
Draw a lighthouse landscape picture
Share the actions for remembering the 4 countries of the UK with a family member
Make a poster about Grace Darling
Create your own boat using household items such as toilet roll tubes, paper, straws
