Online Safety

If you are worried about your children spending lots of time online, visit this website for advice about how to stay safe when using a phone, tablet or computer. Thinkuknow is an education programme from NCA-CEOP, a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline.

Click below for an enlarged version of what an example 'home learning' morning could look like but these activities can be moved around to suit. I would suggest completing only one page from each booklet per day and having a go at some of the other activities suggested on the updated e-learning page.

Writing Activity Ideas

If you click on the document below it will give you some ideas of writing activities that you could get up to at home with your child! These are supported with videos or have been writing topics that we have looked at previously. I hope these help!

Home Learning Bingo!

I have created a 'home learning' bingo sheet for you to have a go at! It should be relatively straightforward to complete all the activities or just a line. Let me know how you get on!

Big Write

Today Squirrels, seeing as we can't go to the beach, I'd like you to write a description of one instead!

  • Think about using your senses to describe - What can you see? What noises can you hear? What sound is the sea making? Can you hear any birds? What colour are the animals in the sea? What shape is the coral?
  • Include adverbs to describe how - gently, noisily, calmly, quickly, happily etc.
  • Use strong verbs, think about the way things move - scuttled, darted, crashed, perched.
  • Use expanded noun phrases to add description e.g. the golden, shimmering sand, the clear water, several tropical birds, brightly coloured fish etc
  • Start your sentences in different ways e.g. think about where something is happening 'In the cloudless sky,' or 'On the desert island,'

Words that you could include:

sand golden pebbles rocks coral
ocean waves crashing ripples shells
boats turtle fish birds seagulls
clouds bright shimmering island tropical

Try these arithmetic questions. Take a picture and then tweet me at @nikkitay3

White Rose Problem of the Day (Day 1)

Thursday 26th March

I found this great interactive PowerPoint on the TES where children can correct sentences that contain errors. It does get trickier as you move throughout the activities but the children should be able to identify the errors up to about Activity 10!

SPaG - Fix the Sentences (Free from TES)

Today, we are going to be looking at finding a half! Remember - when we halve a number, we make it into two equal groups. To halve a number, we divide it by two! Try using you toys e.g. your Lego or small characters or you could use Play Dough to make small balls. Count out an even amount and then share between two plates or two hoops to find a half of different numbers!

Lesson 3 - Find a half

Below you can find the link to the Crickweb website which  allows you to access lots of educational resources and games. If you select the KS1 tab and then Science there is a lovely game called Adult and Baby Animals. There are three activities you can complete which link to our last science topic of 'Animals including humans'. They are:

  • Information Panels
  • Sort
  • Match

These all look at animals and their offspring which we have covered in class! there are also English, Maths, Geography, History and RE games. It is well worth a look!

Wednesday 25th March 2020

Hey Squirrels - I hope you are all feeling well on this beautiful sunny day! The sun is shining through my living room window and I am enjoying watching all of the plants and flowers beginning to bloom. I have set you quite a few tasks to do over the last few days and I am hoping you are enjoying them so far!

This morning, I have been setting up a class blog page which we can use to keep in touch with each other! I will also set you some tasks to do on Purple Mash. Look out for your tasks in the 'To Do' section. You can also use this as a place to keep in touch with each other and talk to your friends and me. Even though we can't be together as a class, we can definitely still stay in touch and I know we will always be thinking about one another!

Stay safe, enjoy your home learning tasks and remember - always be kind!

Miss you all,

Miss Taylor :)

Design your own Bog Baby!

Design your own Bog Baby!

Last week we shared a book together called 'The Bog Baby' by Jeanne Willis. You can find the book online here @

I would love today if you could design and draw your own Bog Baby! Your creature should be made up but you may want to use features of real animals mixed together! When you have finished, give your Bog Baby a name e.g. River Rodent or Pond Paddler and tweet the finished picture to me at @nikkitay3

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
