Westglade EYFS Intent Statement

In the EYFS at Westglade, we provide our children with the opportunities to develop as unique individuals. Our book-based curriculum arms them with the skills they need to become communicators and learners whilst leaving room to explore their own interests and develop a love of learning. We support children’s development of the Prime Areas of learning upon their entrance to our EYFS as we know that these areas provide the fundamentals required to become effective learners. The Specific Areas of Learning are woven into our curriculum to ensure that our children come across a diverse breadth of experiences which open their eyes to the world around them. We provide continuous provision workshops to enable children to explore The Characteristics of Effective learning and promote independence. By working closely with parents and carers, we are able to build a complete picture of our children and can therefore effectively support their learning and encourage them to reach their full potential as life-long learners.

Admissions process for Nursery

We admit children the term after they turn 3 so have three intakes - September, January and after the Easter holiday. If you would like you child to have a place in the nursery, please contact the school office and they will take your details. You will be contacted during the term your child turns 3 to confirm the place and be given information regarding start dates. We admit children to nursery based on whether they have siblings or are in our catchment area as this is how the process for Reception admissions works through Nottingham City. We do take lots of children who do not meet this criteria but we must make you aware that having a place in our nursery does not automatically guarantee them a place in Reception as this is organised formally by Nottingham City Council. If you have any questions about this, please contact the school office and I will be happy to discuss it with you.

You are welcome to place your child on our waiting list at any point and we will contact you towards the time your child turns 3.

Admissions process for Reception

The admissions process for Reception in schools in Nottingham City is all online and out of the hands of the school. Please see the link below for information on the Primary Admissions process:

If you have any questions at all, please contact the office and they will pass on your details.
